After seeing the post on spudtech about using a pellet as the valve i came up with this idea. http://img350.imageshack.us/img350/6378/bbds0xf.png im sure it wont work, the only thing that would make it not work is I dont think I could make an electromagnet that powerful and small. The basic concept is the magnet holds it then power is taken away from the magnet since it is an electromagnet the magnet will lose power and the bb will go flying.

the bb wont fit into the barrel perfectly, the air will leak past, i'd say get a tiny solenoid valve, and make the barrel into a coilgun, then have the 2 switches lined up so u can press them simultaniously, so the electricity in the coil gun starts accellerating the bb, at the same time the air hits it and gives it extra force

If I used a pellet the air will turn the lead skirt into a cup seal and make it airtight.

could u use a steel pellet or would it be to strong to bend up and seal it?

Edit: couldnt u wrap some electrical tape around a pellet to seal it??

a coilgun needs to have contact or ir/optical switches in the barrel. i'd like to see those fit in a bb barrel

An electromagnet that could apply 2.5 lbs to a steel bb through a barrel would be a VERY strong electromagnet. It'll be cheaper to just buy a qev.
