The Palmerspursuit regulators look great. 8)

I eventually want to run between 300-500psi, but where i live i can't go too high for the whole neighbor hood will hear it. :roll:

Was reading airgun basics 101...and it says if the air gun is too loud, there's still a lot of pressure left in the barrel that other wise could have pushed the projectile out..so i'll make a longer barrel so its quiet...or a big supp.

The connections have me a little confused, ive noticed Ninja tanks have foster connectors...do the 4500psi pumps have schrader and foster connectors? This im totally in the dark about being such a nooby sorry guys.

Noise level does have a good bit to do with the volume and pressure remaining when the projectile leaves the barrel. Would suggest modeling in ggdt to match reservoir volume with the performance you're looking for.

Longer barrel will help with velocity and reducing noise. Would suggest not building a suppressor as they are a prohibited item in Canada and would get you into more trouble than the ("likely" PAL rated without a PAL) launcher will. Might be best to keep it low powered and/or do your testing out of town...gun shots(or things that sound like gunshots) tend to get reported these days...more so in urban environments, and most cities have some sort of no discharge bylaw these days...the police will come in full "shit your pants" mode if it's reported.

Don't have a pump as I use nitrogen or co2. The pumps I know a (very) little about have 1/8"bsp on the fill whip. Most folks use a fitting that converts from bsp to npt for the foster fittings...a good hydraulics store should be able to help, or try Best Fittings in the UK.

Thanks Gippeto, i can't use GGDT sadly, i don't use windows and i can't get it to work on Linux, that would have helped me a great deal.

I'm after as much performance as possible, not so much for my first cannon, but the next one for sure.
I want a cannon that is always on 500psi and can then be cranked up to 700-900psi.

Next cannon will be a .357....9 is my favorite number. :roll:

Im actually frustrated i can't get to use it, would save a lot of time and materials, anyway just happy its built and will leave it as is, the chamber will eventually be changed.

In regards to the regulator inlet max pressure, would that be more for the actual gauge or the housing itself?

For the regulator itself. Doesn't really matter if the manufacturer rated it by the housing, the diaphragm or the paint color (kidding)...they engineered the thing and paid good money to get it tested and obtain approvals so that it was legal for industry to use it...would suggest you take it as the limit for the product.

How do you guys fill your chambers with the 4500psi pumps...i've noticed the pump im getting only has something called Foster...but i need a schrader valve to be able to fill single chamber cannons.

I've been searching for them but can't find them..or should i just install foster connections into the chambers instead?

This has me confused, was hoping to have a single chambered cannon built and passed on by the weekend after i thought i had everything ordered...

I was about the start a copper cannon and tap, etc the schrader valve in there..but i thought whats the point if my pump cant connect to it?

EDIT- Will be going paintball connections...to think i wasted a whole $10 on schrader valves. :lol:
At least i'll be able to fill the tank for the weekend. :wink:

Fosters are handy as frig...and a great way to go IMO. :)

That said...sometimes a fellow needs a high pressure schrader connection too....

Yup that's what i thought...i know they take high pressure well but the Foster connections are meant for it. :wink:

Gah no time for schrader valves now. :lol:

It has delayed the next 2 projects for a little while, but gives me time to make the magazines and 4 barrels. :bounce:

Yes, but.

The heavier the projectile, the more spin you need to induce in order to have a visible effect. This also robs the projectile of forward velocity, which means that while you will get a flatter trajectory, you will also have a lower velocity on target.

Also, with friction being a variable, the amount of spin won't be consistent, so the point of impact will not be uniform.

In my view with a dense projectile you're better off knowing the amount of projectile drop for a given range and compensating for it.

I would suggest that one stays away from these, I had tried a couple back in the day and they failed putting full pressure in the system. Palmer stuff is excellent, more expensive but much better made and penny pinching when it comes to pressure is not a great idea.

Being an old airsofter...it was well known once you go to 0.88g and beyond the hop becomes irrelevant.

Doubt you would need something like a ladder sight...just become one with it and your internal's will do the rest. :wink:

Edit-That was a joke a ladder sight would be good and look great also. :wink:

Starting the plinking pistol for my friend and thought i'd build 2 at the same time, one with a 1/2 qev and the other with a 1/4 qev.

I want them both to be single chamber, both chambers will have a (mini) 12" long 3000psi paint ball tank with a foster connect for fill.

Would this work with a slide valve, or would i need a hammer valve or air from a blow gun?
Current chamber is all i have for the mean time. Just seeing what works, etc.

Or would the slide valve need air from the chamber?

Current set up doesn't work, air escapes from R. I poked a small hole in the valve and placed a spring behind it..if air still escapes..does that mean the spring is too strong for the valve to seal properly?

Sort of how I built mine, but with the fill valve on the back of the slide valve. And A and P are not connected.
