I know that long nose piezos don't hurt. How many volts are they? But do BBQ
igniters hurt? What are the chances of getting shocked? Can I buy BBQ igniters?

They dont hurt but it gets annoying when you trying to shoot your gun and you keep getting shocked.

I actually shock myself all the time just for fun. Try putting the leads in different places on your body. Hold one lead in each hand. Try your arms and neck and legs, mainly in places where muscles and tendons can be seen. It's really cool to see how you jerk. It doesn't hurt at all. It's just a startle really.

It's startling in a, let's say, tender place, especially if you're not expecting it.

Im not sure the voltage on those long nose lighters. I do know that BBQ [Grill] Ignitors are around ~30,000V. You can buy them under replacement parts at any store that provides BBQs [Grill]. Or you can order from any of us that provide spud products. Gort, BC, and PC have teamed at 'BCARMS.com', there is 'Spudshot.com', the well known 'SpudTech.com', and I myself in conjuction with BLB have started to sell products over 'TheSpudMall.com' site. Ive sold products for quite some time, but never really in a organized fashion, so im currently working on putting them onto the site. Also working on my flash site.

Laying your arm over the electrodes is common in the firing out of a 'hip' posistion. Ive got jolted a many of times, although its not enough to do any serious harm, just as Gort said a little 'startle'. Stunguns will start to hurt, I dont pretend to be a hardass, but that little sting you get for a short moment hurts.

I dont to commonly shock myself for fun, lol.

Noname, would you care to expound why in the hell your shocking yourself in this place?

:?

Anyone who likes getting shocked by high voltage is as a nutter.

Its uncomfortable even if it can't kill you.

I've been stung by my capacitor charging circuits giving out a constant 210v and theres no way I'd willingly do that. Mind you thats not just a spark. Its the time I brush against it to the time the reflexes get moving.

So if a bbq spark is about 30,000V how much would a Camera spark be?

300V

The reason why theres a bigass flash and the spark can slightly vapourise the contacts is because its actually quite high current when the capacitor dumps its charge.

300V gives a spark less than 1mm long.

Actually there are stories about people in electric chairs getting "pleasure" from it (You know what I mean). Rare, but it's not unknown.

Some piezo ignitors are so feeble that they don't actually hurt, they just tickle - those are funny to shock yourself and other's with.

Shocks from camera flash circuits are incredible - I've had a few, and they aren't anything I'd actively seek, but they aren't really painful. It's a bit like pins and needles.
Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.
