you should have a muzzle knife at the end of your barrel, which is nothing more than sharpening your barrel with a file/sander/lathe that way the potato will be cut as it is forced into the barrel, as far as the hairspray, dont use it, hairspray gums up your chamber terribly. the reason its not igniting is either because there is too much fuel, or there is no spark between the screws. ONLY CHECK FOR SPARK IF YOU"RE SURE THE GUN IS EMPTY AND HAS NOT BEEN FUELED

i changed the ignitor to a fire lighter switch which seem to spark on most clicks but it still wont fire so i think i will buy some right guard instead of hairspray

a lot of the time it wont fire because it doesnt vent properly and u dont have enough oxygen in the chamber. you can install a fan in yours like i did or hold it up to a fan to blow out the vapors. also try spraying in the propellent for a seccond then putting in the potato it pushes the air in the barrel down into the chamber.

Please don't suggest using oxygen to the newbs... it's not really safe to be playing around with enriched oxygen combustion in brittle plastic pipes.
