Well, do anyone have a theory why 95% of all the spudders are from the USA?

My guess is because it originated here, we also generally have better access to build materials and finally, PCGUY lives in america and made the site in english which would deter many people in europe who didn't speak or understand english.

I agree with the above statement. If you look hard enough, you can find almost anything in the USA. Me on the other hand live in the land of great unobtainablity meaning everything I need, I need to custom make and that is a PITA. Example I go to a hardware store and ask for a check valve, then I get the blank stare and probably 30 seconds later "I don't think we carry such a thing "

The fact that it's an English speaking forum has a lot to do with it, but the impulse to build thing launchers out of unlikely materials is a global one - one only has to look at the French patator forum to see that innovation is alive and well in a country that largely has no regard for the English language, and launchers are being made that would put most of the examples here to shame.

In short, it's 95% of spudders on this forum that are from the states ;)

even if 95% of members are from the USA you can get exactly the opposite impression when browsing the site. That 5% is several times more more prolific than the majority and probably responsible for 30-50% of new ideas.

LOL if you check JSR profile you can see that he's responsible for almost 5% of posts, , rag 1.7%, psycix 1.3%, I am responsible for 1.12%, spudfarm 0.87%, btb 0.83% and so on

I wouldn't say that building materials are easier to get in the USA. PVC is more popular in the US, but that doesn't help you at all (lol who needs higher pressures if you can't use them safely?... Or who needs QEVs ? - the largest size is just 3/4" - quite small for a 2" PVC gun and performance would suck at 80 psi).

I agree that language is the reason why most members are from the USA.

Good point, I would consider myself to be a bit of an exception but I agree that the contribution of non-US members on the forum is disproportionate to their number. I don't mean this as any form of criticism, it's just what the statistics seem to indicate.

It's this sort of "disadvantage" that leads to innovation in designs and construction techniques.
