These eggs keep getting weirder and weirder :D

4.5 gallons at 200 psi, that will make for a nice higher powered BBMG...

The specs stated for the compressor are a bit misleading but having read several reviews I knew what I was buying, would have considered the DeWalt but it gets some bad reviews related to mechanical parts (compressor failure)

The Ridgid has 200psi max TANK pressure, 150psi max regulator output pressure and most important, cut in pressure is 165psi, so it will maintain 150psi.

Finally got the old Viewloader Orion together and it seems to work, with only 120psi it will dry fire but wont cycle, I'm thinking there is not enough back pressure as there is no ammo to create any back pressure, going to get some rubber airsoft balls and try it at 150psi, maybe a weaker recoil spring will be needed

At full pressure a typical marker would cycle even without a projectile to provide back-pressure.

For lower pressure, consider boring out the valve seat in part #4 and increasing the diameter of the valve #6. This will compensate for the lower pressure with increased flow.

Yeh, I tried a super light spring and it made no difference, I will try it just a a single shot when I get some ammo. So the valve #6 is like a piston that moves forward and releases air/Co2 when fired ?

This is basically how it works:

Image

The hammer (#11) strikes the valve stem (#6) knocking it open momentarily, allowing enough air to flow out for one shot.

Since you have low pressure in the chamber, there isn't enough pressure generated inside the mechanism to cycle the action.

You can compensate for this with greater flow by increasing the diameter of the valve seat and stem, but even then I'm not sure it will be able to cycle.
I tried a super light spring and it made no difference
A lighter spring is easier for the air to cock, but it also opens the valve less, so the advantage is lost.

Got it, sweet, now I can see how that valve works. I think it will make a neat single shot pistol anyway. 50 balls on the way from China.

Has anybody ever sourced 10mm rubber balls ? I would prefer Ebay (easier to pay) but can't find any. Alibaba has loads from China. The BFG is pretty hard on targets with steel BBs, and rebounds are no fun.

This a piece of 2mm aluminium at 9m :o

Have you tried McMaster Carr? They have bearings and balls of just about every material you can imagine.

They are pretty expensive, I have found these, sort of like 10mm airsoft.

Congratulations on being one of the few spudfiles members that thinks that his creations are a little too powerful ;)
