The sprinkler valve will stay open as long as the blowgun trigger is held down(and air is flowing to the valve, otherwise it doesn't matter), once the trigger is realeased, then the valve closses. If your semi-auto plan involes simply a quick disconnect on the chamber then shooting by pulling the trigger for everyshot, it should work.

yes! but what if i use a fire extinguisher filled with propane,i thing that would give me loads of shots.
*edit*
but why would it work? why dosnt the valve just stay open until all the air is out?

Forever dreaming...
because when the blowgun is on the diaphram cant reseal , but if the blowgun is off, the other side of the sprinkler valve (pilot) can build up pressure pushing the diaphram back down onto the sealing surface and closing the valve.
this will make an exellent paintball gun but where i live sprinkler valves cost R154 (Rand) ,small fire extinguishers cost R160 ,Im not sure about the blowgun and all the other bits and peices could cost about R50 so that all adds up to be R364 + . it is about R6 to $1 (USA) so R364 =$60,66,my allowence is R100 a month but my birthday is in June(lots more money)
Final conclusion; CRAP I wont be able to do this as quickly as i wanted.
