I just saw a show on how they mave military issue m-16s. when they rifle the barrel they have a small brass piece that they put in one end of the barrel then using a press, push it to the other side. this works for aluminum so it shoufd work for PVC.

Yes it will, as long as the tool stays straight and doesn't tilt sideways.

You guys do know that rifled barrels exist right? Joel from Spudtech makes them. Look at the first four things on the Components Page on Spudtech.

yes i know. I don't think it is right to pay $30 for 5 feet of weakenef pvc.

the tool is the exact size of the ID of the barrel. there are small protrusions that rotate the Tap as i guess you could call it.

I can garantee that cutting tool isn't brass. Most likely tungsten carbide with a yellow finish - which is like the carbide chips for my lathe.

Anyway, I believe the method is called broaching. It'll end up being allot harder to cut a barrel like that than with a multi-pass system.

Someone on Spudtech developed a rifling method a while back and was able to do about a foot of it. I believe - but am not certain - that the mothod was far from the performance that Joel's barrels give. And they do not cost $30 and are not so "weakened" as SpudStuff says. These barrels give a very accurate shot. Check out Latke's Spudtech rifled barrel test and Latke's interview with Joel on his rifled barrels.

Very nice! How are you controling the angle of spin?

Sgort, you are a moron.
Cutting grooves in the pipe wall means that the hoop stress has to be concentrated into those thin parts - which being maybe .6 times as thick means that the pressure rating of the pipe is now only .6 times normal. (still 200 or so for 2" pipe...)
