Meh... It's easy to do if you've got half a brain and an understanding of basic chemistry and physics. In fact, it's done every day using cardboard tubes (hint: fireworks). Beyond that, if anyone has questions I'll answer via email, but I'll respect the forum rules otherwise.
I figure radically discouraging this idea should stop the half brains from blowing themselves up... although it's Darwin at it's finest

I can think of at least one instance where it went horribly wrong, one is best advised to err on the side of caution.

I'm thinking about brazing some copper piping for a chamber, but I'm a tad worried about the heat effecting the copper's strength, anyone have experience? Does copper anneal easily? Should I just go with steel to be safe? It's a 2 cu in chamber, PSI will be up to 500.

Hey guy's, I hope this is the correct place and way to ask a simple question. Where can I find a mini propane tank for creating a metered system that is less than a standard 1lb tank? I saw a pic way back of a small tank that looked like it was around 6" long and maybe 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" in diameter. If I google "mini propane tank" all I get are 5 gallon bar b que grill tanks, small short fat camp stove tanks and 1lb torch cylinder tanks. I noticed medical supply houses sell oxygen tanks of many varying sizes and shapes but I'm reluctant to try these as they are not rated for propane or mapp gas, plus they command a premium price. Does it make a difference if it's oxygen or any other gas, will mapp gas eat the seals of an oxygen tank, I don't know. It seams to me tanks are rated for a particular gas for a reason. Somebody clue me in. The reason I inquire is because I'm trying to lower the weight of a project and don't need a massive 1lb tank. I'm in the glass business and use a 1lb torch to relax the glue holding insulated glass units in their frames. I've been using my current torch for over a year. It's like it's never going to run out so in my mind there's no need to strap such a large tank onto my project. Any ideas of industries that utilize micro tanks would be greatly appreciated. Best regards

Have you considered an aerosol can type butane refill can? Not propane but still a powerful fuel. If not, why not make your own smaller can that you can refill from a larger tank? These are quite common in airsoft for "green gas" which is essentially propane.

Was given an old paintball marker, a Viewloader Orion

The barrel is missing, otherwise it is complete, stripped it down and found one bad O ring.

Was wondering if it could be made into a BB firing gun of some kind running on compressed air (135psi)

It won't run on 135 psi, you need at least 600-800. Not enough power to cycle the action.

Unless of course you fit a much weaker hammer spring, might work - but then you won't have much power available.

Can polyester resin be used to make elements for combustion weapons? If someone has used this type of resin, please tell me how was the issue this.

I would not recommend it, epoxy resin is a far better choice for pressure-bearing components.

If i have my main and air chamber connected, main chamber being my compressor..will that give me shots at a higher pressure until i build/make a custom main chamber and install a schrader valve?

A three way valve blocks off the main chamber at the moment of firing, making it irrelevant to performance as long as the firing chamber pressure remains the same.

Awesome many thanks Jack.

Will be good to play around with higher pressure until i make an air tank. :)
