Question about tubing

1) If, for example, I have a 3 feet tubing able to withstand 300 PSI, does that mean that 1 feet can withstand 100 PSI?

2) If I have 2 tubes, one can withstand 100 PSI and the other can withstand 200 PSI, and I link them together with a T ( aka two tubes on either side of the T and the shrader on the last end), will it be able to withstand 300 PSI?

Ha! Answer is no to both. I'm a bit worried about how you came to that conclusion on the second question though.

OK, if I have a 3 feet tube that can withstand like 2431 PSI, a 6 inch tube of it can still withstand a pretty good amount of PSI....right?

It's GOOD that you ask questions first. :wink:

Tubing rated for 300psi, is good for 300psi...doesn't matter if it's 3 feet, 20 feet or 2 inches...the rating of THAT tubing IS 300psi. Changing the length will NOT alter the rating.

If you have a tube with a 100psi rating....that's its rating. See a pattern here? :)

If you consider that 100psi rated tube to be a part of a "system" ie..you use it in your spuddy....it is STILL only rated to 100psi.

Your spuddy is only as strong as its weakest part.

No, the question is, for example, if I cut ONE INCH off of a SIX FEET tubing thats rated for 120 PSI, how much PSI can that one inch stand..ok look at it this way.

6 Feet tube rated at 120 PSI
ONE INCH of that tube rated at ? ( that means a FRACTION of the tube)

Also, we're talking about ONE tube here, and CUTTING that one tube, not buying two different tubes of different lengths but same pressure rating

Yes.

may I ask what made you think that the length of a tube has any thing to do with the pressure it is able to withstand??

simply put: The length of a tube has nothing to do with the amount of pressure it can withstand...

I bought a 6 feet tube able to withstand 659 PSI by accident, I was meaning to buy a 6 inch tube able to withstand 659 PSI. I was wondering how much PSI a 6 inch part of that tube can withstand.

as i said another time i dont mind helping people with cannons whatever age they are, but for someone to ask a question like this (not toooo bad) but then take so long to get the point that there wrong i really dont think you should be playing with cannons at 150psi plus

yes i know what you mean im not trying to discorage you from asking questions, its much better that you do and not just try it anyways because it wouldnt have ended well trying to put 300psi through a 100psi and 200psi hose :lol: good luck with your build, and please DO ask questions about stuff your not sure about
