hey guys, so ive developed a breech loading system similar to the kind shown below however i cant seem to figure how to get a rod of some kind like this guy has onto my barrel without it protruding into te inside of the barrel. if anyone has an idea that would be very helpful. thanks

thread a bolt into the wall of the barrel then with a drill bit the id of your barrel drill the bolt flush with the inside. thats ho i did it.

Put a hose clamp on your barrel, then drill a hole in the center of the nut all the way to the end of the worm threads and insert a small metal rod into the hole so you can use it as a handle.

i tried threading a piece of pipe into the barrel but sense i using sdr21 pipe the walls are too thin. but what did you mean by using the hose clamp?

Not to change the subject of this thread but how is the seal made between the barrel and the larger pipe that it is housed in? This is the only problem keeping me from building a breech loader

No not that... but it is another idea... and I wouldn't trust that screw to hold my barrel in place.

I just got a ⌀2 drill bit so I'm going to try to make it and take a few photos when its done to show you what I mean.

A really good fit or 0-ring.

Here it is... I ended up using a 3mm drill bit since the 2mm was not cutting the metal... no idea whats up with that





I lightly hammered in a wood screw so it would just stay in to show you how it would look like... to bond it securely I would heat the hose clamp and cool the screw before joining them together. Metal expands when its heated and contracts when its cooled

Are you referring to the seal between the barrel and the valve or filling up the space between the inner barrel and outer barrel? My inner barrel has a 15mm OD and the outer barrel has a 20mm ID. I filled the space with machined teflon spacers.

lol yesterday at work they asked me to put new bearing on a old pan staking machine. I headed the new bearing flange and cooled bearing when i put then together and it was room temp again, the bearing inside the flange snapped.

lol at then end we put the old one back.

If you heat/cool the parts and join them, it will break only if the difference in dimensions is too big..... I could screw in that wood screw with piers if I really wanted to but I don't wait it to break

thanks this helps but what end did you drill the hole from? also how do you even drill a hole through a screw
