Hey all,

At the moment I'm trying to get my head around Solidworks and was wondering if anyone on here has experience with it and may be able to help me with a few things.

Cheers,

Jacob

I use inventor, not exactly the same but many techniques will be interchangeable. What are you looking for help with?

Thanks guys. I'm just going through the tutorials and am starting to pick up on a few things slowly. I'm mainly just seeing who on here may be able to help out in the future when I get stuck on something.

There is one thing I'm a bit curious about at the moment though. I'm going through the very first tutorial included with the program and am wondering how I delete individual holes made with the hole wizard. The countersink holes I've placed in the part has two holes and I can't figure out how to delete one without removing the other.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hmm, can you edit the feature (the countersunk holes)? Then change the holes/delete one there?

I'm hoping to do that although I can't actually select the holes individually, only their contours.

Select the hole feature from the design tree, a small menu pops up, select the "edit feature" icon. The hole specification box opens up. There are two tabs, "Type" and "Positions", under positions the program enters 3D sketch mode. From there you can select the individual points and move/delete them. By default the "point" tool will be active to draw new points, just press Esc to deselect any tools.

You can also just expand the hole feature in the design tree, select the sketch and click "edit sketch".

This is what you wanted to do, right ? (oh, that is for Solidworks 2010, should be pretty much the same in other versions)

Ah Captain you're a life saver. I wasn't pressing Esc, and I also wasn't selecting the holes at the center, rather on the edges and it wouldn't let me delete it.

Cheers for that
