have any of you guys figured out a good way to break caps and other fittings loose after you have cemented them in?? i have found a simple way...(becuase i have to reuse my stuff) ok cut the pipe about an inch from the fitting then take a jigsaw(i think that's what it's called) and cut to slits in the pipe(not the fitting) and then a screwdriver and a hammer nd tap the screwdriver in between the to slits... it will pop out that piece between.. then simply tap the screw driver into 3-4 other places around the seal to break the glue... take it over to the vise grip and pulll SIMPLE AS THAT...be careful not to cut into the fitting when cuttin the slits otherwise you ruin your seal

There is also a tool that you put on your drill that spins and grinds out the pipe.

yes and have you seen the prices? the fittings cost more

couldnt you use a hole saw thing on your drill and drill out the glue type thing?like if you cut right where the pipe meets a reducer you can see a slight gap where the glue is

This method is really not wise to be honest. If you go 1/16 of an inch too deep with the saw, you will cut into the fitting which will even if a little bit damage the integrity of it. Unless its for a combustion than whatever its cool.

You could get a SPIOG fitting.

use a hacksaw blade instead of a jigsaw. you can be much more presice.

Oops I ment Spigot. There are fittings that slip in the PIPE and not the fitting.

my dad owns a hardware store, he doesnt sell pressure pipe but he does sell everything else, so tools,dremels what ever aint a problem for me 8)

you do know, he still have to pay for them, and a 4" holesaw is like 20+ dollars for something like a lenox one... Odds are he pays about 12+ for it, thats still 2 times what the average 4" or less fitting cost...



P.S from experience with things like hole saws, they are insanely unsafe unless on a flat surface with open area around it... Like a board of wood... A drill is not some little motor, its got a shitload of torque if you have a good drill I.E dewalt. When you put a holesaw into say, a 4" end cap, unless you have some ungodly eyesight and can keep it 100% level with the fitting while drilling, you gonna get your wrist hurt when the drill snaps at you from the torque.

I know he has to pay for them but we got the stock with the store as a bargain like one day he brought home a $3000NZD bbq
