The above happened when oxygen was used as a pressure source, with no attempt made to deliberately ignite it.

Never, NEVER mess with oxygen unless you know exactly what you're doing!

so i realize that this forum is quite old, however i do believe that A98 brought up a good topic. We can learn from our own and each others mistakes especially the catastrophic ones. So if anyone has had any recent experiences like these the info would be appreciated im sure.

I had a recent accident with a older cannon of mine where I used ABS cement to join PVC and ABS. It worked well at low pressures (40psi or so) but after a string of errors a good friend of mine got a pretty nasty gash on his forehead. The first thing was that we weren't wearing our safety glasses, the next thing that went wrong was that the output pressure on the air compressor was not checked, the last thing was that he was standing over the cannon during filling. all these things compounded to make the cannon fail abd shoot the top off after reaching the full 140psi.

Not a cannon accident, but as many of you know what i think about safety masks and gloves, i get ALOT of cuts while making knifes...

Today i was polishing the spine of a puukko blade (for Sandman) When suddently the buffing wheel grabbed the blade, threw it against the wall, then it bounced and stabbed my left biseb and the dropped to the hard concrete floor. Immediately i "closed" the stab wound and covered it with Locktite, the some rags and duct tape.

Funnyest thing is, that even though the wall has a big dent and my hand is raped and if i saw right, the blade dropped tip first, There is not any damage on the blade it self. Great test, eh? :D

Should've said "if I saw right, the blade pierced my bicep tip first yet there isn't any damage to the blade" :D

similar story, though i was trying to chip a golfball on to my lawn, 5 swings later and a couple of centimetres deeper into the ground i decided to belt it in anger, hits the limestone step at 1000kms/hr and comes right back at me hitting me right between the eyes.

surprisingly it didnt hurt.. but I was even more annoyed than before. i never picked up a club again haha.

similar story. I took a golf ball to the shoulder out of an 8x hybrid after it rebounded off a steel plate from about 20 feet away. I think I clocked it at about 100fps on the high speed.
