Isn't this a bit ridiculous guys? People constantly come and go off forums, it's been like that forever. The only "leaving" posts that have been made in the past were for those who were going off to the military/etc who were going to be totally unable to access this website for X period of time.

1 "leaving" thread has inspired others to write them for no reason.

NO MORE LEAVING THREADS

It's not like your account disappears or anything, it all stays here. Just because you may become more interested in another hobby, doesn't mean that your never allowed to visit SpudFiles. Some people do in fact use the computer to visit multiple websites (and even multiple FORUMS!)

If everyone posted a thread when they thought they were going to be "leaving", then I would need a whole forum dedicated to that!

This is a website, visit it when you would like, don't when you don't feel like it. The only "leaving" is a ban. Just because you need to save money for a car instead of spending on cannons, doesn't mean you can't read posts on a website. I haven't built a cannon in years but I didn't "leave" when I decided to spend money other places aside from cannons.
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

These are slightly bigger names than most - so their absence will at least be noted, if not crucial.... However, I'm sure everyone likes to think they're an integral part of the forum.

But even JSR spent a while without much activity, and the forum still got on all right without him... (mind you, 9 out of 10 of his posts are nonsense. :P)

I know I know a lot about spudding, but even if I were to disappear, the gaps I would leave in the forum would be filled. Mind you, that's because I don't reveal my full obsession with the hobby on the forums...
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

There seems to be something ironic about a temporary ban on someone who's posted that they're leaving :)

Every time a member leaves a leaving post they stick around. "Ironic" ? Sounds that way but members contradict themselves by posting and posting after they say they are leaving. Don't get me wrong, I don't want members leaving, it is what it is, plain and simple...... :D

PCGUY, I agree. I think we can assume nearly everyone here is male, and if your sticking to any of your male characteristics you simply don't like drama - and thats what I think "good bye" threads are. I mean who do you think you are, Brett Favre?

In the spirit of things I don't like...

ALIHISGREAT, don't you think it is kind of ridiculous to just post "completely agree?" I'm glad that you have an opinon, but if your not going to expound upon it I don't think you should waste our time and post. That's just me though...

Hahaha I think that would be the best example you could come up with. I have always thought those goodbye threads were stupid to begin with..i mean, who really cares? I understand them saying that they wont make cannons anymore because of an incident with the law, but other than that, they are just useless.

I think it's just one of those things like people won't be getting attention for making a cool gun, so they're grabbing at the last little bit they can get anyway.
I'm with Jrrdw on the suspension.
