hey guys... man it's been forever since I did anything with spud guns. The other day I was feeling nastalgic and went on a search for all my old spud gunning material online.. and sure enough the hobby is still alive and thriving!
I've been out of the game for 2-3 years and WOW... some of the cannons on here are simply mind-boggling.
I remember when I drifted out of the hobby Hybrid cannons had just been "discovered" and were in their experimental stage...
My old screen names included "spudmaster_of_mtwashington" back during spudtech.com's glory days... and then "smomw" during the last year of spudtech's forum activity.... then when this site started I believe my sn was "smowk" (spudmaster of westernky)... since I couldn't get my old account password and everything working Kyle, PCGUY, hooked me up with the new account...
anyways,
If any of you guys from the good ol days remember who I am and are still into this I'd love to chat with you guys. I have a new e-mail under
devincherry(at)hotmail.com....
does sgort87, burnt_latke, boogieman, and the other spudtech guys still floating/lurking around!? I'd love to hear from you guys.
Well... I'll be lurking around but I probably won't post much. I havn't even shot one of my potato guns in over a year. I believe the last time I shot them was at the 2007 western Kentucky shootout. Man that was a blast... I hope to be uploading some video footage from that shootout as well as the 2006 shootout to my youtube channel. (also under the SN of spudafett).
Man... I think the only cannon that even works any more is the Kraken.. and I don't remember the pressure at which I built the regulator so I would have to figure everything out from scratch with it... last I remember I busted my golf ball barrel and the regulator's pipe's seal busted and I never fixed the beast... But... I still have them all. ONE day... I will put them back together and resurect them.
unfourtunately life gets in the way and screws up the good rewarding little things in life......
anyways... like I said... I'll be lurking and checking in now and again, and if any of you guys remember me from the good old days, I say howdy and it's good talkin to ya again!
howdy, this is SMOMW, SMOWK, Killer_of_spuds...etc...

Heh, I remember when I was on Spudtech. I was but a wee little scrub in the spudding hobby, I came up with this ridiculous cartridge combustion design that would have NEVER worked. I was there for a good three months before I quit for some reason.
Completed projects:
CA1 SMSS Basic Inline
CA3 PDAB Airburst Cannon
Current Project: Bolt action rifle (25x140mm + 1in shot)

Good to see you again SMOMW. I remember that 2007 meet and the video of Gort's 'contraption' (can't say any more here.
)
I haven't built much, but I still tinker with the hobby between my 40 hours of work and 12 hours of school.
