Oh, it's a lot older than 15 years, closer to 30. I don't think it's fibreglass, I've used that before and I didn't have this effect, just 10,000 tiny splinters in the joints of my fingers.

Is it ghetto enough though?

I have an idea, i'm not sure if it would break the rules but someone should use a RAW CHICKEN as the chamber. That would be a challenge...

and you get the smell of roast chicken every shot, sounds ghetto.

In that case a hybrid would be spectacular...

If I provide another damage shot, will that qualify my entry? Otherwise it'll have to be a crappy mobile phone video.

Edit: Curse Crna Legija ninja-posting me

Crappy videos work fine. Still shots work too, like tech posted, although that's really only good for clear chambers...

I wonder what a taxidermist would think if I brought in a recently dead python and said "Could I get this preserved... in a 'straight line' posistion with the mouth open?" lol

Anyway, good news everyone! Finally got something together, epoxy is curing and hopefully I'll get a video tomorrow. IF it works. This might be a big IF but hopefully it does.

Things I have learned:

1.Wood is not suitable for compressed gas systems.
2.Wood is not suitable for hybrids.
3.Do NOT throw leftover polyester resin in the fridge to keep it from stinking up the room.

--------

Not sure if this is still a legal entry... It does function as a pneumatic still, but due to excessive pressure it now leaks like crazy. Sorry didn't get a decent video... I guess you'll have to take my word for it :?

Video link up.

Even if it isn't valid, It sure was interesting!

Materials:
block of red oak
coffee maker tube(barrel)
piston (pen tube filled epoxy/shoe rubber, floating oring)
coat hanger + peizo (spark gap)
3/8 pipe nipple(piston housing)
other fittings are visible

... and tons of epoxy/resin!

syringe:
plastic tube
pencil
electrical tape and oring

Ever since Eddbot's combustion, I knew it was only a matter of time before this happened.

"Great" work. Guess I'll have to let whoa044 and Zeus slide as well, because there's no way I would bar something this crazy (literally) from this contest.

Given your work with other piston hybrids, I'm sure it work(ed)s, and as you said, it obviously still works as a pneumatic...

EDIT: added. Of course, even if you could get the crappiest of videos of it working as a pneumatic or camera stills, it would be much, much better.
