This is my throw together gun.
It has a .40 blowgun barrel and a 3/8" union+co2 tank for a chamber.
I use aluminum foil as burst disks.

I shot a penny also.
I clipped it with a tiny nail., essentially it tore the penny in half.
Sorry no pics but the carnage is scary.

I use around 100 psi, or until the foil bursts/
I have done one shot at even higher pressures using water inside the chamber and heating it with a blowtorch

Wow. It looks so... thrown together! :D Pretty nice, however, since it penetrates coins, and whatnot! That water heating chamber thing... that's what the Mythbusters did once!

I just love burst disc guns! The simplicity and power is amazing!
Darkmilk, get a pipe wrench and a vice. Then figure out how to use them.

lol, i love the simple looks but id use a higher pressure setup if i had that strong of a setup you could run at least 200 psi if you wanted

I think we should see "how many" coins we can get through

today i actually succeeded on making a triggered burst disk basically just a ball valve behind the burst disk. release a bit over 100 psi blows a hole through 5 layers of aluminum foil.

I put the valve part in the vice and took a rubber strap wrench to turn the cylinder until it gave.
keep in mind it may damage a strap wrench if overused.
another way I do it is by putting it in a pipe vice and using a wrench to turn the valve head.

A quick question, will aluminum fail if heated with a propane torch with a few hundred psi in it?
I don't like the idea of boiling water and metal being embedded into my body

When was the last time someone died of hot water shrapnel :?: hehe

Why not just see how pressure it takes to burst one layer of foil then stack them up to the approximate pressure you want to achieve?
