pill bottle ignition idea

i was just wondering would the string with the gunpowdery stuff on the end from a party popper work as a spark in a pill bottle gun

then you would have a hole in your chamber where you put the string in, and hot burning gas could escape

i tried it about 6 times with a pill bottle gun i made earlier and i managed to get it to fire once but the other times it just made a really quiet poping noise and that was it
