I highly doubt it. PVC is as prone to such myths as microwaves are. Though you don't want to inhale pvc dust or fumes, it is safe for drinking water.

Unless you chamfer 6" pipe all day for a living for 30 years or so, I doubt you'll have any side effects from exposure.

PVC- Dangerous to inhale dust, but self-extinguishing.

ABS- No harmful dust, but very flammable.

...and the debate continues, although I think they're leaning towards ABS.

So your saying that if I sand the paint off my gun, and kick up some PVC dust while doing it, that'll be bad for me? And also how bad?

This makes about as much sense as these as a gun store not wanting to sell shotguns anymore because some "Dee Dee Dee" shot his car tire and the pellets ricocheted and hit him in the face.

No, kris, Home Depot and Lowes will not stop selling PVC unless it is banned by the government or something.

Yes, but you'd have to be regularly sanding/cutting PVC for a living to experience any symptoms.

The only bad experience I had with PVC dust was when I was grinding on it without safety glasses. The Optometrist liked it, but I didn't.

Next time you hear a rumor like that, go to a construction site or places where they install pvc pipe and ask them.
