once again i got a few questions which i actually searched for but to no avail.

does a piston use more air than a modded sprinkler valve? because of the exhaust valve
and is it possible to have multiple shots with a piston valve?

at the mo im just trying to gather as much info as possible to decide exactly what im going to put on my next pneumatic, my next one is going to be a metal marble sniper and hopefully it'll pack a punch.

Does a piston use more air than a sprinkler valve? If the piston is larger (and probably will be), it will. But it should be set up to use only the air needed for a proper pilot.

It may be possible to achieve multiple shots with a piston valve, but I do not know what direction to point you in.

Maybe you could have a primary and secondary chamber. Set it up so that the primary fills the secondary, and the secondary is the one that fires the valve.

It would be suggested to have the secondary chamber smaller than the primary chamber and, depending on the chamber differences, you may get a few shots or a lot of shots. A portable air supply and regulator would also be recommended, as it will fill the primary chamber back to desired pressures.

i see what you mean man thats got to suck having to refill the chamber all the time my current valve and chamber can get 6 shots before having to refill i may have to try and build something like my current valve but with a bigger airflow.

Or build a piston valve and use the Vogt pattern style. That will give you prob the capability to fire upwards of 20 marbles in real quick manner.

How are you getting 6 shots out of your current pneumatic, is it posted on the forum?

Well if you're going to reload the ammo, then you might aswell refill the chamber, it shouldn't take more than about 30 seconds to fill a sniper sized chamber with a shock pump or compressor.

Edit: For power and looks that are superior to that of a modded sprinkler, go with a piston.

Well, you are trying to say that can you make a gun semi automatic with a piston?

Yes, it is very possible and has been done, using a piston valve. But these usually are more complicated than a standard pneumatic. But a general idea of some semi auto pneumatics, or getting more shots than one out of a chamber, is that you have a spring that is strong enough to close the piston fast enought so that all the air wont let out. This is placed behind the piston. But with extensive research, you can find it on this website.

Sprinkler valves are multi shot as long as you have a continous air supply like an air compressor or CO2, you would also need a working mag that isn't effected by air sucking more then one projectile (spherical) out into the barrel.

With a piston it's the same, you just need air supply and a mag.

oh ok thats alright then ive designed another valve its like a piston but doesn't have a blowgun attached ive just got to get the parts and ill start building the prototype to test if it works which im fairly confident it will. and if it doesn't i reckon ill get me a sprinkler valve and mod it.

@ MaxuS i have not posted it as of yet im waiting to apply some paint and get some damage shots and then it will be on here. the valve im currently using was the one off of a fire extinguisher and it closes fairly quick so i get at least 6 shots the first 4 being powerful and the last few not as powerful.

@ LikimysCrotchus5 thanks for that my valve im working on now is going to have a fairly strong spring behind the piston. i bet that will cause me a couple of problems with the way ive got the trigger attached but its all trial and error
