well every year in october or november the snowmaking equipment is inspected and has met all guidelines with flying colors. obviously the inspectors(not just one, there has been several) have felt that the equipment and maintenance have met the guidelines. hence passed inspections.
the air lines are in smaller control rooms and are not as active as the water lines. the control rooms stay in the 64-68 degree area.

i'm only in charge of the resort maintence, i'm not on the snowmaking crew.


personally, i'm more concerned with a fitting/glue failure than shattering. incremental fills to test the connections were actually planned, regardless of what the chamber was made out of.

ahh yes thats a valid concern in the uk the highest rated pvc fittings are 16bar (same as the pipe) and the same rating is on the glue (i think) so i would check the rating on the fittings and glue very carefully before you start.

Well, JSR has used pressures like that in small ID PVC. But I wouldn't recommend it at all.

JSR must be crazy, in europe (as far as i know) we don't have the sch pipe system so the walls of pipe get thinner as the pipe diameter lowers so the highest pressure rating i can get in the uk for pvc is 16bar.

I use 3/4" internal diameter PVC pipe marked as "gas pipe" but not pressure rated as such. However, it has a wall thickness of approximately 0.15 inches and never failed on me, past 400 psi. Remember also that I use relatively short lengths, and that the epoxy endcaps bond extremely well with the PVC meaning they serve as extra reinforcement.

and i wouldn't trust pvc for 400psi although it is the fittings i would expect to fail and you sort that problem with epoxy fittings although i still wouldn't like to be near pvc at 400psi
