Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

I have settled on building a coaxial, for its compactness for combat use (Yay). I have settled on a 1.5 in barrel and 54in long. I only want the barrel to extend just outside the chamber, at most 4 in. I need to know will the gun still operate if 50in of the barrel is inside a combustion chamber 54 in long, for a total of 58 in in length?

It will but it will perform poorly. According to whatever studies were done on coax combustions, they seem to lack more power than a conventional combustion.

Or just build a pneumatic.....
in which coaxials are more common and effective.

So that explains why most paintball guns are pneumatic in operation

Pneumatics are far better then combustions on the 'battlefield' until someone builds a working full auto or semi-auto combustion.

How crappy can your compressor be? You can charge a pneumatic with a bicycle pump.
