Vortex vs. Cloud strafers

If I made a cloud that used metal BBs and had a clear chamber, does anyone think that the impact from the BBs would cloud the clear pipe?

Yeah, if it's PVC it will get terribly scratched. It won't be crystal-clear but you should still make out the BBs bouncing around even after extended use.
If you're using a clear chamber to see how much ammo you've got left, you should be fine.
But I don't think a cloud design is the best idea for steel BBs. as pneuNINJA said, momentum would prevent them from shooting out at a given distance from the barrel. Sure, you could use a bigger compressor. but is it worth it?
As far as BBMGs go, I'll stick to the PEST because it seems to me it has the best energy input to energy output ratio.
