I made a paintball vortex gun

Havn't tested it yet. I will today, but I could sure use a favor from you guys. Tell my why it shouldn't work, cause I know it's probably not going to

About it:
Uses two CO2s connected inline for lots o powah
The barrel is actually to my old pirhana gti pb gun, so tight bore match.
Nothing is sealed entirely because I don't want a pressure buildup.
Gorillia glue is the toughest glue on the planet.

Okay I tried it out with one CO2. Poppage. Power is not a problem as long as I shoot in small bursts. Here's a pic that shows exactly where the barrel is inside the vortex block. The popping is happening where the beginning of the barrel starts. The paintballs can take the vortex easily-it's only the chambering of each shot. Any ideas to fix this? Should I just set the barrel closer to the vortex hole?

Not enough flow is what I think maybe a 1'' ballvalve? Btw I think epoxy wins that contest.

The barrel looiks too low like the paint is poping at that edge there.

Take out the barrel and smooth the breach out with either fine grit sandpaper or the elliptical bit for a dremel. Also, if you're willing to, I might try beveling the breach of the PB barrel. Nobody really has a definite answer, that's the first (I think) time anyone's tried a paintball Vortex. (Marble BBMGs are more common)

Thanks guys. I'll try that. The breach of the barrel seems a little sharp and makes too much of a notch that can catch the barrel.

And yea, everyone knows how they could make a paintball vortex, but no one has ever tried it because it shouldn't work. I just want a definite answer =D. If all else fails, I'll use marbles. Thanks for the suggestion!

The reason why the barrel is low is because it is outside of the vortex encasing. It actually points a little upward.

Took your advice guys, and I brought the barrel in more so paintballs directly feed into it.

It works! =D Well so far. With one CO2 tank, I'm guessing it's getting about 20 bps in short bursts. It is also only going about sixty feet at a slow speed.

I'm finding the problem is the CO2 cooling quickly and losing pressure.

I'm guessing that if popage isn't a problem, the second CO2 tank hooked up will solve all of my problems.

This might be a non-winter gun. I'm only getting like 300 psi out of the CO2 in this snowy winter weather.

Err... Just to be a party pooper but should you be using DWV for your paintball vortex... especially with the co2?

Nevertheless, it looks kick ass! Whats the ROF on the pbmg? I wanted to do the same thing but with 6mm paintballs. One day... Airsoft Guns shall fire 6mm pbs safely rawr!... Anyway seeing is believing reckon you could upload a video of it firing?

Ehh yea that's what kinda scared me at first. They didn't have any other kind in that diameter at lowes, so I very hesitantly used it.

Then I went into my physics teacher's class and asked him about the pressure behaviour. We went though some things together and basically decided that the the pressure is really not going to be too existant, but rather the angular velocity of the air moving is going to be pushing the ball. He said to drill some holes in it and don't perfectly seal anything in case anything gets jammed.

ROF so far is about 20 bps. I'm hoping to get that to thirty with the increased flow.

It seems the only thing ppl worry about in PB is the ROF. If you can get 20-30...... In such a simple Package.......

Yeah it would work by paintball manufacturers... but a question... how many times have you fired it because you would probably need a 99% success rate without one paintball that ruins it all. Although whats the velocity and range on the gun because bbmgs lacks much range, although i'm not sure if it'd apply to your gun though.

how many rounds can you load in it btw? because the paintball capacity in the pipes don't look too flash.

You would see an increase in performance if you used HPA instead of Co2.

Maybe slightly, but any high pressure air rushing through PVC will tend to significantly drop the pressure and thus make the plastic more brittle.

I just think that making this a summertime gun will do the trick.

And definitely. One paintball pops, and every one after that pops. I had to take the entire vortex block setup apart after they were doing it this morning. That's why I'm gonna carry my sidearm pistol with me.

And the pipe is probably gonna hold about 100 paintballs. You can't fill it up to capacity because the weight eventually becomes too much for the air to jossle...it just jams up.
