Best Way to cut O-Ring Grooves

Okay. Im sure someone has answered this before but what is the best way to cut O-Ring grooves in a 4 inch Piston. I have two tight fitting 1/8 inch o-rings. I am using the bell end of a piece of three inch pipe. The pipe fits in the chamber with 6/100 of an inch gap. I dont have a lathe, drill press, or table saw. I have a dremel and a few files.

i made some nice grooves by taking a band saw, cutting a not too deep ring around the pipe, and filing from the ring. i just stuck the edge of a one side flat one side round file in the cut and filed around.

I wouldn't bother using O-rings.

ok im saying make a not very deep cut all the way around the pipe where you want to put the o ring. then put the edge of the file in the cut and file all the way around to widen the cut to the size you need. basically make the cut all the way around, and make it wider however you want. i would just suggest a file.

With .06" gap?
That's a bit big to go skipping the o-ring step, isn't it?

That's about half the thickness of standard electrical tape. There isn't much air getting past that.

Im sorry, usint a hacksaw to cut o-ring grooves??? While your at it cut your PVC with a chain saw. Beyond a lathe or table saw I think it would be fair to say your attempts are worthless. Ive always had a idear' on how to rig up a jig for a dremel though... Let me render in Rhino and Ill post.

I made a jig for my dremal using a 1/8 th inch metal grinding bit. the problem is that the bit is not 1/8 inch

Heres my system that ive drempt up. The wood can be easily secured via a clamp, although im un-sure how you can mount the dremel. Anyways heres the pics...

my guess is you can clamp the dremel horisontal with the surface you clamp the wood to. that is the best idea yet. i think i have some angle iron to try it with. thanks
