Fullbore heavy rounds are cool but just a suggestion, how about some heavy duty darts - I don't know, put fins on these - and do some proper penetration testing?

Also, marbles in an empty soup tin for that ultimate spudding shotgun

I think I will make one of dem dang ole nail darts. What would be a good penetration test? I think I could get a hold of a car door. I just dont think plywood would cut it.

All righty then...wow! very intimidating indeed. It looks even more monstrous than your preview from a few days ago. Sweet full 3" porting. I see you got the longer barrel extention put on there. Have you noticed or measured the performance difference from the 6'?

Thanks for the compliments. It is tough to measure the power difference when shooting objects a few feet in front of the barrel. It was also misleading since the first shot with the "short" 7 foot barrell was a 13 inch TV and these newer shots were mostly 25 and 27 inch TV's. I also need a better pilot valve. I bet a 2 inch sprinkler will make a huge difference, so expect an update in the future.

As for the storing, I am lucky to have parents that live on lots of acerage with 2 large work shops.

try to find a lawn darts the results would be devistating dont shoot that thing in the air or you might have the copers ring on your door step these has happend like 2 two me because the gator in my lake started to eat the golf balls and they found it in it crap and my neihbors rated me out.

Well, like Ali says, I'm trying to work on a new project, but with the short daylight hours and freezing weather, and the fact I'm missing a part or two I might not be able to find in time, I'm not sure I'll have it all done before I have to return to university, so it might be that I don't have it all finished until the semester break in March, because I'll probably only come home one, perhaps two weekends during that time, and I'll have other things to do then.

Thing is, I told myself I was going to just do the first stage, then got set on trying to do the whole thing in one go...

No kidding, the recoil from an ice slug made from tennis ball tube was enough to knock me back on my ass. It hurt, but was worth it.

That is a beast. Do you actually fire that thing while holding it?

its much to large to do that. I just Balance it on a sawhorse and hold the back end when I fire.

Need to make a harness for it. A sling over the shoulder to hold it up, and a loop around the waist to deal with the recoil.

That thing is a beast...

Oh, and for dart ammo, if you've got a couple metal funnels and some long bolts or rod, you can make blow-dart type ammo pretty easy.

eh... I am not too worried about holding it while firing. I am in the process of mounting it on a tripod and adding some door closing hydros for recoil.

And I like the idea of using a funnel and bolt for blow dart ammo. We shall see if something comes to fruition....

I use a similar thing for mine, but with the top from a 20oz soda bottle. I think your 3" barrel is a bit much for #2 plastic, though...

I make my dart shafts by cutting the head off a long bolt, clamping it in a drill, and spinning it against a bench grinder to sharpen it to a WICKED point... Then I use repair putty to secure the threaded end into the bottle top.

So far, I've only had a chance to try my prototype, made with mild steel rod, which bent on impact, but split a big piece off a chunk of 10x10 wood beam.

I plan to redo the pilot valve with a 2 inch splinkler as there is sometimes a delay after actuating it. Pulling the safety ball valve the same time as the sprinkler helps a lot.

1st, nice job! 2nd, the delay may be coming from the possision of the barrel in the tee. Looks to me like it should be about 1/4" more towards the middle.

My fix would be 2 o-rings on the back of the piston, then a check valve in the piston.

oh my god..that's a monster. For a better shotgun ammo, fill up the soup tin with 4" nails.
