You could also choose the cheap-ass solution of simply flattening the pipe and welding it shut.
I am not sure how this will affect the pipe's strength though.
Even if some of the chamber volume is lost this way, you still have enough anyways.

i think you would need a bit more than a hammer to flatten 10 inch pipe an it would be weak as hell
