im going to have a typical over under pneumatic with the sprinkler valve on top. 3" diameter air chamber and a 1" sprinkler valve. should i go from the 3" air chamber to a 2" then to the 1" sprinkler valve or just go from the 3" chamber to 1" all around?

Well, I'm no expert, but I'd assume you would want the least amount of restriction until you reach the valve. This way the maximum amount of air reaches the valve at one time.

In a 1" sprinkler valve, you're getting about 3/4" of flow. Reducing from 3" to 2" can hardly be called a restriction in this case.

Restriction is bad. Flow is good.

Just think of it this way...

It take a lot longer to fit a watermelon through a straw than through a basketball hoop.

Air is matter after all. The particles need space to flow.

would there be a huge difference using the 1" instead of the 2"?

Nobody can tell you exactly. Why don't you just spend the extra $2-3 and make it 2"???

You'll need a 2" coupling, a 2" to 1" bushing and a 1" male adapter. Additionally a short piece of 1" pipe will be needed.

In the question you are asking in the original post, I dont see it making a difference either way.

Do what ever makes more sense as far as money and availability of parts.
I like to play blackjack. I'm not addicted to gambling, I'm addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.
