Sure. Tell them I'm coming to commit acts of gratuitous defenestration on them.

Scares any of my mates. Mostly because they know I've actually thrown people out of windows before, but partly also because they know I might actually follow after them.

That was a fun day. Kicking Baxter in the crotch, defenestrating him, then rugby tackling him all in the space of a few minutes.

I'll assume you mean to scare your friend with the items you've listed.

Otherwise I would suggest acquiring a third party to scare your friend during the watching of a horror film. Just make sure you expect it. It would be quite embarrassing to be frightened by your own practical joke.

I agree. Lamest thread ever.

If you want to make a bang with a compressor get a plastic (squarish) tub for putting chemicals or whatever in, tap in an airline fitting, turn it on and run. Very loud.

Though it has nothing on oxygen/acetylene and copper/acetylene

When it comes to scaring somebody, its hard to beat showing up on their doorstep late at night, splattered with fake blood and gore, holding one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKtMcLEL4I0 ...or you could just "borrow" larda's hybrid.

Put a snicker's candy bar in his shorts while hes sleeping. When he wakes, he will be scared.

While you're doing the snickers bar thing, heat it up so it's just melting but not too hot (so not to wake/burn) and dip is fingers in water at the same time (or just pour some smelly water on his pants).

When he wakes up take a photo.

Hmm, fiddling with your mates underwear in the middle of the night can't possibly been seen in a good light if he wakes up, or even worse, someone else sees you at it.

Get a cloth, soak it in cold water and drape it over his face while he's sleeping, the soggier the cloth the better.

Less pervy :)

Oh come on, most of these are just malicious pranks, not actually good scares.

My favourite is always putting a mirror a couple of inches from their nose, so when they wake up, they suddenly find themselves face to face with "someone".
It's simple, not too crude, gets some good screams, but doesn't actually cause problems.

Basically, ANYTHING that requires making a mess of or getting overly private with your "victim" as an integral part of it should be disregarded.
Let's be honest, shoving a chocolate bar in your mate's underwear would just make a mess, and could only go wrong or be misconstrued.

Seriously, if you don't think you could laugh about it afterwards if it had happened to you, it's not appropriate.

Alternatively, on Mark's note, there was one time I outright convinced a mate that the police were after him. In the end, everyone could laugh about it, it didn't make any messes, and it got the prerequisite effect at the time.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
