^new to the forum, not to pneumatics. seems like a nice place here!

so i'm thinking about building a very small gun that shoots "spitless spitwads"
(standard ones are full of germs!) and my idea is to use a clippard quick exhuast wich has i think 24 cfm at 50 psi. or i might just directly use a clippard stem valve witch has 4 cfm. keep in mind i don't mean to make it very powerful as i intend for it to be as harmless as a nerf gun.
clippard specializes in very small parts like this.

do you guys think 4 cfm can shoot anything?
other details of my gun:
4"x1" air tank
somewhat like paintball lasertag nerf etc.

both players guns are tethered to my large 7 gallon campbell hausfeld air storage tank.

no real game rules, just like a standard spitball fight.

i can draw up a design if you think it would work.

The spudding equivalent of biological warfare :D

Sounds like a better idea, much more economical with air and with reasonable pressure, you'd have more than enough power ;)

that does sound like a good idea.
i did my own one shot bb gun a while ago:
blowgun>drinking straw. it works great!

but they are a little big. and the cost of a clippard valve is about the same.

but with the blowgun i could fire 1/2 spitless spitwads.
that would be really funny. it would splatter

Well for a barrel even if you didn't want to up the velocity you'd want more accuracy. Brass or aluminum telescoping tubes are good, use trigger duration and pressure to determine accuracy.

When I head up to narrogin to get new hockey shoes I'm going to buy a $10 blowgun and make an air cane. (seen as I've got spare tubes around, I'll sleeve a small aluminum barrel in 12mm alum, make a nice handle to disguise it and fuel it with shocky..)

Trust me, you don't want too much velocity. Spitballs can hurt, my hydra easily puts them through Bal. Gel or water filled coke cans up to a depth that they would undoubtedly penetrate skin.

If you want a cheap mock up game some day I could suggest using deoderant cans as air sources. They even run small clouds for a short time until they get too cold.

By the way, I can testify blowguns work. Using one with at 100 psi and a 9.6mm id barrel put a blowdart through a sheet of ply (thin) and the shed wall.

Oh btw JSR, which would you take:

110 psi, piston valve, larger chamber, non to mid portable
300 psi, blowgun, smaller chamber, portable

I'm leaning on 300 psi portable. (and then I can also make the 12mm O.D. pipe a barrel shroud to quieten it down a db or two..after all you don't want an air can to be an obvious weapon.

well i intend for the guns to be regulated down to less than 50psi.
i think i may just jam a blowgun in the back of some SCH40.

my system:
main tank>reg down to 25 or so psi>1/4 micro drip tubing(cheap, long)
gun.

do you guys use air tanks to power your guns(campbell hausfeld 7 gallon "giant blue tank",etc) or do you just use co2 and compressors?

wouldent the deodorant can like, make deodorant fume?
plus i already have the tank. i may buy another one. i use it for almost anything that needs air and it dosent make noise like a compressor.
it lasts quite a while too on small intermittent loads.

Yep, deoderant stinks. Don't do it in gym changerooms where kids are playing with lighters either. If some wally tries making deoderant flamethrowers I get out some (yo, against rules) and the entire changeroom is full of sulfur smoke. I only had to do it once, people learnt.

I use compressors for large, low pressure guns (100 psi), my shock pump for high pressure low volume and propane, butane, mapp or hydrogen.

I have an air tank I fill to 120ish psi, but rarely use it.

shooting things. i.e. which would be more powerful, then would you take the stealthier portable one or the non portable one..

It depends on the calibre, I would say that at 300 psi a blowgun is more than adequate for 6mm calibre or below in terms of power and gives you the possibility more than one shot with a decent sized chamber.

That's the point, it's not a decent sized chamber. It will be fueled with the shockpump. I reckon the blowgun will work just fine, as I'll be making 6mm soft tailed darts. If I can put one through a shed at 100 psi with an unmodded blowgun then I have no problems with the performance at 300.

I'll carve up a nice handle and mod the blowgun to fit within it.. with a street 90 going to the barrel. When I get another blowgun
