No weight is involved.

The ring thing was the first thing that I grabbed to show the concept of how the string is used.

2 pulleys or a dual pulley at the rubber?

I used a single pulley on the rubber band side.Both sides of the string ran through it.

Thanks Brian,

Have you considered using a tiny homemade pulley made from a piece of ~1/2" OD plastic tubing on a shaft?

I am thinking light weight and a low rotational inertia system.
