If the detent works correctly and you have a tight magazine, you won't need a paddle because the air pressure will push the paintballs in the mag up. You'll also be wanting a spring at the top of the mag, to stop the paintballs crushing eachother.

here's a blow forward barrel design that i think would be easier to build, but i hope the barrel will not be too heavy for the loading action to work effectively. It will probably have a sliding barrel support to reduce the stress on the blow forward action

Mark.f used that concept on his full auto marble launcher, so yeah it will work.

I just want to warn you.. there should be no need for the paddle... just put a second detent behind the mag where you paddle is now...Lockednloaded wrote:
And, if you ever use solid... hard projectiles... prepare to replace that front detent every few 100 shots.

Use an o-ring detent and it won't wear out for a long time.

sorry to kick this up, but I'm thinking of using the blow forward barrel for this long put off project. I can now use pressures up to 700psi, so I think it may be a viable options, but do you think the barrel will be too massive even with sliding supports?
