My mean old dad wont let me make a golfball gun this weekend. Im pretty sure its a cost thing, he also says its because a golfball is too deadly. I told him it can shoot nerf rockets too but he doesn't seem to care. I was really looking forward to it too
Any suggestions to get him to let me?
Cheaper place to get materials?
Thanks guys!

Pshhhh dads lol. You could always use the good ol exuse "well if you let me do this, it wil keep me off the streets doin drugs" lol. or pay for it yourself, tell him if you build it and he shoots it, he will see how fun it can be, or just simply never shoot golfballs.

My dad wouldn't let me build a golf ball gun, but i built a 300psi 3/4'' piston valve and have a golf ball barrel for it, its pretty powerful.
or you can do what i did with my motorbike and just bring it home and see what happens

That's how I would handle this comment from any son of mine.
Before my dad died (1979) he only needed to whip me 3 times, I learn fast......sorta lol.
I have to agree with jrrdw. As a general rule, while in your parent's house, follow their rules.
If they say "don't make a golfball gun", don't make one. It might be annoying now, but they may change their minds later.
However, if you break their rules, what you'll probably end up with is a stern punishment, a destroyed launcher, and considerably less freedom in future.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

As a creature who could make his way in the world with a blanket and a pocket knife, who has been preyed upon to buy his family a 3-bedroom house and a garage full of toys that they take for granted, and he paid for with his life he should encourage his son's interest in the virile technology of penetration and use it as an opportunity to bond with him, making a basketball cannon instead
Yeah, I'd be a terrible husband.

If you spent the 11 years with my dad like I did, you would understand this much easier...jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:... as any responsible father would.jrrdw wrote:That's how I would handle this comment from any son of mine.

As a dad and grandfather, we have adopted some kids. Not all kids are created equal. I started to teach my latest kids gun safety and so forth. We dug out the ABS cannon and was heading out with it when I noticed it was being tugged on. One of the kids was tugging on the golf ball with no regard of where it was pointed. Needless to say, the cannons were locked away when they were home.
On the flip side, my grandsons shoot marshmallows.
They follow safety instructions.

Somebodys dad needs to build a wood shed...and plant a willow bush nearby. (Red willow "works" well. )urgle the danish cow wrote:...this is when you say "suck it b@#&*!"
Given the statement above, I'm certain that plenty of "quality father/son time" needs to be spent there.
Ahhh...the good 'ol days.

Lucky for me my parents don't believe in most of that kind of punishment. All they would do is ban me from the computer for a certain period of time, which i can live with.
Im going to try to lure him to bunnings today and see what the cost of the materials would be. And promise i will only shoot potatoes and nerf rockets

Unfortunately in the USA with foster children and foster adopt, this is considered child abuse. I just lock everything away, and hope they live long enough to move out. What they do to themselves after they leave I'm not responsible for. Those kids will never spend any time in the shop near power tools. Such a waste of a training opportunity.Gippeto wrote:Somebodys dad needs to build a wood shed...and plant a willow bush nearby. Some kids you simply are not allowed to teach. They don't know what they are missing.
