I actually thought about that, laser piston!

Oh and I haven't forgotten about your little motor, details man, details!
pen gun, with two little thread holes, one on the front that goes somewhat into the barrel, and one in the back, have the sight atually be threaded into those threaded holes. And the two parts of the sight would be threaded onto each other, and that combination of the two sights threaded togehter would thread onto the back of the pen thus still looking like a pen when you carry it around, simply unscrew the sights from the back and put each one in its threaded hole... you have sights for your pen gun while still retaing your overall pen look.
Ok, say you have sights - but now a thumb button trigger isn't good enough because it spoils your aim when your press it and it's awkward to hold, so you need a pistol grip - et voila, it's not a pengun anymore.

LeMaudit, there are lighter-based concealed weapons that aren't part of a 007 movie plot :)

take off your sock, put it between the pen gun and a wall and use the sock as a soft rest for precision firing the same way you would use a rucksack as a soft rest for sniping.

Hi was wondering about those warning on threading a valve...
By fear of ruining it, I gave it a try on a brass rod with identical ID and OD using the tap/die I selected, M5-0.8

Seems okay to me :D

More on the next step, sometime between tonight and tomorrow morning.

[Edit] :? I was wrong... dewey1 was right!
The schrader hole is a taper, there's not enough material to thread close to the head. Change of plans, I try with a M6x1 :D

LeMaudit are you doubting my 3D CAD models? :)

You may have to use a thread sealant with M6 threads if the stem has the 5mm diameter.

All right... I shall doubt no more...

From experience: M6x1 cuts too deep, the correct one to use I found was M6x0.75
I even got a picture to prove this.

as you can see the end of the valve broke off.
it was quite a pest to remove the broken pieces of valve, so use a M6x0.75 to cut the threads and you will be golden..

The problem he has is the stem has a 5mm OD.

There must be different sizes for the TR413 valve stems from different vendors..

Some are 5mm and some have a 5mm and a 5.84mm section.

I don't have this one :? Only M6-1 in my tap/die box. But my schrader OD once the rubber removed was only 5mm anyway... no good at all for M6. Different manufacturer maybe...
As a result the threads are very shallow. I cut them anyway, as this will certainly be good for the epoxy gripping.
I have updated the general plan to reflect that, no more o-ring there... but the pengun is still serviceable. Yes JSR... now I remember, you told me exactly that :notworthy: I shall doubt no more :notworthy: I shall doubt no more :notworthy: ...

And the cutting plan that I followed:

This step was no big deal... and only 6mn video :-D
The next one will be much more fun!

Nice!

But it raises some questions:

- why exactly did you use the live center, the part remained clamped in the chuck and I didn't see you adjust anything :?

- why didn't you add a die holder to the shopping list? Not worth $60? Do I have to make one?... or can I be sure of centred threads using the manual holder?
Crna Legija wrote:what are the threads on the core? you could maybe do
That would mean cutting a schrader outside thread, which I gather is a very odd size.

... though I note you still have the "epoxy" notation as faint as you could make it without being invisible!

There is no shame in mixing glue ;)

With a bit of machining and epoxy, i'm sure you can make a adapter for standard thread size. If your lucky you can re-tap the shock pump connector to like m7 or 8 and the same as the OD of the pen.
