0.5" means 1/2"

So it's half inch...

Actually, if the thread's diameter is 0.5", it isn't any NPT or BSP thread. Also, if the thread's outer diameter is a meaningful quantity without any other qualifier, it isn't a tapered thread at all, but a straight thread.

The closest pipe comes to having a 1/2" diameter is 1/4" BSP pipe, which is .531" external diameter (plus or minus some tolerance, of course). 1/4" NPT pipe is a close second, at 0.540".

This site doesn't offer enough specifics on the thread to display any hint of knowing what they're talking about. I wouldn't recommend doing business with them.

Ok thanks DYI, but i cant find any popoff valves available in the UK :violent2:

I need help locating a relief valve that is 1/4" bsp and i cannot find one for under £10,,, can anyone help me because i would hate to pay £40 plus shipping for a flimsy valve. and finally does anyone know how to make one as a last resort and i have access to a machine shop :D
