@Daltonultra
even 0.50 cal AP rounds are not very impresive when compared with some more powerful rounds... lol I knew jsr will mention the styer AMR - but that's a pretty good example
The point of sniper teams is to be highly mobile and stealthy.
Cool but who said they have to carry a laser designator and a relatively heavy weapon... if they have a laser designator they can use this>>>

We're talking about a laser-guided round usable by a sniper team, and you propose instead using a chunk of robotics the size of a motorcycle? We're starting to get a bit silly-season with this one, man
You can mount one on a humvee or UGV
It can be fully stabilised, have a laser rangefinder and designator, ballistic computer and can be armed with something more substantial than 0.50 cal gun
these guys even thought that a retractable mast could be useful

Might be that our big disaster of the century wont be a major war but crap like overpopulation... boring
don't worry war is our natural response to overpopulation
Well actually, you're not far off. If you empower women in these third world countries, there's a good chance they start getting their act together.
I see your GF has a very negative effect on you - what I wrote is exactly what will happen
Haha, love the end. To be fair though, a lot of the over-population is in either countries that are third world or parts of countries
Sure but at the same time we have population decline in developed countries (probably it isn't noticable in countries with a lot of immigration - like the USA). You might assume it's not a big deal but in fact it is.
There exists a thing called 'pensions crisis' or 'dependency ratio' >>

Many welfare programs were designed with an assumpiton that in each generation the number of people in the labour force will increase. Now if you think of of it for a while you start to realise that some of them are enourmous financial pyramids
ohh and here is something on population ageing:
A declining population due to low fertility rates will also be accompanied by population ageing which can contribute problems for a society. This can adversely affect the quality of life for the young as an increased social and economic pressure in the sense that they have to increase per-capita output in order to support an infrastructure with costly, intensive care for the oldest among their population.
That's just awesome - so as soon as you have a problem with population ageing fertility rates drop again - further increasing the problem
