Is it possible to attack(weld/epoxy) on a schrader valve onto a spent co2 cartridge and fill it with air to use with homemade guns, if so how much air could be pumped in, given that the Schrader seal wont blow

IIRC 12g co2 cartridges have 1/8" threads, and you could buy a fitting also i have personally tested schrader valves at 2000psi. EDIT, petitlu uses an 88g co2 cartridge filled with air to power a cylinder on his hybrid.sagthegreat wrote:Is it possible to attack(weld/epoxy) on a schrader valve onto a spent co2 cartridge and fill it with air to use with homemade guns, if so how much air could be pumped in, given that the Schrader seal wont blow

i mean the cartridges i have dont have threads but how many psi's of air do you think it can take, if the epoxy wasn't a factor (schrader valves have been tested to 10K psi and they did ok for a few minutes) ty

Most co2 cartridges can take twice the pressure of co2 IIRC. So air would be fine, but I hope you are using a really really small chamber because 100 psi isn't going to get you any where.

Refilling a CO2 with air isn't going to work very well. Unlike CO2, you can't get air to condense into a liquid at a pressure you can get from a home compressor. Refilling to say 120 PSI (typical shop compressor) would give you one shot from a 14mmDx12"L chamber at a pressure of something like 30 psig (you can do the math
. )
It might work better to refill with propane. (Just don't smoke when launching stuff.
