I just finished my QEV gun this morning. This gun is intended to be an "Indoor Gun" so I can use it inside without destroying anything (of coarse if you use a ball bearing for ammo then this gun would easily shoot though a wall) I designed a special type of ammo, made of Saran wrap, that can safely be shot inside. Originally I used Nerf bullets, but they cot ripped into pieces after being shot. I shot the gun at my foot at 80 PSI using my Saran wrap ammo and it felt like a paintball gun. There are no damage pictures. Also any advice is welcome, or ideas for future guns.

Do you think I need a longer barrel?

If its meant to be shot inside leave it as is. Also I wouldnt reccomend shooting anything at yourself or anyone else for that matter. You could make your barrel about 2 feet longer and the way your chamber is set up your losing perelformance.Put the 90 degree elbow as close to the valve as possible using little or no pipe.

Yes, I know shooting it at myself wasn't what most people would do. But the gun wouldn't even puncture paper. Normally I would never test a pneumatic cannon that way.

Ouch  That must have hurt. Most of my cannons are designed so that you cannot fire the gun and look down the barrel at the same time.

Believe me, gun safety is strictly practiced around these things

Why? It's not semi-auto and it takes three pumps on the bike pump to get to 80 PSI. But I agree that it is wasteful.

Big pilot volume = slower pressure drop when you pull the trigger = slower valve opening = less performance

From another thread:
schrader attached to the base of the blowgun. You would need to remove the schrader stem, and keep the blowgun trigger pressed while filling.

Good point, I'll consider building a new manifold, but don't you think a slide valve would give me the best opportunity for low pilot volume? Or a 2/3 DCV because I planning on building one soon.
