It's always amusing when the thread starts a new page and I jump in and catch something like this completely out of context.

Edit; to make this post more useful, here's something relevant I made a while back.
(what, you didn't think I'd been doing nothing at all while I was away, did you?)

I smeared some red high-temp silicone on one side of the joint before soldering. This was to keep the solder from dripping out when it was clamped upright.

Well glaze my nipples and call me Rita!

Bloody impressive work, wish I had the time for this knifemaking lark.

The stamping, did you actually make a stamp with the emblem or hammer it in following a pattern with something slightly more sophisticated that a screwdriver?

I just hammered it in. Broken allen wrenches make great punches for detailing work.
Not sure how to make stamps that are intended for steel; I'd think you'd either need a mill or a *very* steady hand.

Acid etching would be a relatively painless way of doing it, following by heat treatment to harden the punch itself.

Noice!

Have you thought about using 3D printing as a "lost wax" method of casting from metal? Or making moulds and casting from urethanes or similar?
