I sort of have to, given I have slowly been turning it into how I'm earning an income.

I'm wary of the long term prospects, as the miniatures industry will eventually suffer for the 3D printing industry, but that's probably a darn sight further off than some people think it is.

Listen to some people and high resolution 3D printers are going to be in every home in two years... but I think it's probably likely considerably slower.
It's a slightly preposterous idea that everyone will have expensive and bulky machines (that require specialist knowledge to get the most out of) just to replace door handles or plates with an inferior and somewhat costly copy every time they break one - or more rather, probably the day after they break one, if the machine doesn't throw a wobbly overnight.

If having a less good product slightly sooner at a somewhat increased price were quite such a boon, the high street wouldn't be suffering quite so much for the internet.

Mind you, it will eventually happen, so I am trying to think ahead. I just don't know quite how far ahead I've got to think.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Not only how far but also the direction. Fine arts and collectables? Specail effects and media? I know it's been a long time ago but I'll say it again, Dreamworks Studios or a like. The oppertunities are out there for you, no doubt in my mind.

Depends. The greyscale portraits did have reference - mistakes on a face at that size and in that style tend to stick out a bit like a sore thumb and those portraits were mostly pretty early in my art hobby.

At other times, I have referenced faces, hands or poses if I'm having difficulty with them, but any artist who says he/she never references anything is either a fool or a liar.
