MAP Gas

I have a combustion cannon that uses propane and i was interested in upgrading to MAP Gas. Does anyone have any information regarding the safety of this activity, as well as the percentage of gas by volume that should be used?

It shoots farther, but it isnt worth the extra cost, and it smells even worse that propane does! You are much better off with propane.

Mapp Gas- Methyl Acetylene Propadiean Gas

(A mixture of propane and Acetylene) More power than propane but I would only use it in very large guns

I had someone told me he used Mapp gas with Oxygen in a 6" diameter combustion chamber connected to a 1.5" barrel. The potato flies out so fast that it disengrated upon exiting the cannon

The aerodynamic forces are smaller than the forces inside a launcher... that potatoe was damaged in the barrel, not the air.

yuandrew, that seems like a load of shit to me, oxy and mapp would detonate a 6" PVC chamber, if it is metal i can understand though

It does result in slightly higher velocities, so if you want to, you can use it. You'll still spend many times more on ammo than fuel.
