Sometimes on cheap gauges the needle gets stuck to the face of the gauge. Try flicking it a few times with your finger to try and get it lose. Or you could have put it on the wrong side of a valve. Or maybe the gauge is blocked by some dirt or something. Or your gauge is faulty, ooorrr you are just not pumping hard enough.

We need a picture of where the gauge is. It might be wrongly postioned.

...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

Are you talking about the pressure gauge on your cannon or the pressure gauge built into the pump. If the pressure gauge on the pump is not moving then that means that there is a leak somewhere.
Yea a picture would be helpful

Maybe you didnt drill the hole deep enough. The only other thing i can think of is that you have a really leaky chamber and it leaks out just as fast as you put it in. If you pump for a while and it still reads zero and you open the valve does the air come out of the chamber or is it empty?
What is the type of valve... if its anything but a ball valve theres a good chance that your pump cant seal it fast enough

Not true, I have a pretty crappy bike pump but I'm able to seal anything I make, otherwise it's useless to me. This has included spirnklers, barrel sealers, coaxial diaphragm valves, etc.

its not a leaky chamber after i pump it the gauge on the pump says on 0. after i open the ball valve air comes out, if i put the pump on the very end of the schacher valve it reads it for a bit then the pump thing pops of at 40 because its on the very end of the valve , i might just need to put a gauge on the chamber. thanks for ur comments
