Bolt Action

Hey. I was wondering if this would work for a bolt action-ish feed.

This is a paint drawing of the whatever you want to call it.
Basically its the barrel, with a larger size pipe sleeved over it loose enough to slide up and down the barrel. Somewhere under the sleeve is a hole in the barrel big enough for whatever you are firing. This whole is also on the sleeve so when they line up its an open hole into the barrel from the outside. From there its just the matter of attaching a hopper of any sort onto it.


This is "it" on a gun. Its in front of the black valve on the model.

hey, that is a cool idea. i just might make one for a gun im making soon.

i needed a good way to feed marbles and you just told me how, great thinking. it might need a little tinkering, but other than that it looks really good.

Could you explain it in more detail? I am having trouble figuring it out, it is most likely me but nevertheless I can always ask.

in the first picture it is closed. the second it is open and feeding, then the third it is closed again after a round has droped in.

it is the same thing as having a hole in the barrel and having a coupler slide over it. only instead of having just a coupler, there is also a feeder like on a paintball gun. get it?

^^ Hes right. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it will over feed. If you tilt the barrel forward while loading a round it might.

it wont if the barrel is pointed up. you just have to have a nail or something just behind where it feeds so that is cant roll towards the valve, if that makes sence.

another thing that would work is simply twisting it instead of sliding it back and forth.

Yeah thats a good point...although, 3/4 CPVC is pretty tight on paint balls, which is what this gun is designed for. Maybe they wont slide down the barrel at all.

i dont know where you live, but here is the US paintballs are really loose in 3/4''. infact they are so loose that you need wadding to make them work well.

in US they are .68 caliber. You can buy paintballs for blowguns in a slightly smaller size.

3/4" CPVC has a different ID than 3/4" sch40 or 80. It fits them almost perfect.

EDIT: I believe CPVC is PVC pipe with copper pipe size inner diameters

EDIT2: Does anyone know if putting a stopper to block airflow is a good idea. I need one for that Tee behind the valve so I can have that stock coming off of the main gun. If it isn't safe I can just grind out a tee and put it over the pipe between the two elbows instead

if you dont want want your ammo to roll for marbles place a little foam peice inside your barrel. this will keep yoru ammo from rolling down the barrel.

No. A rubber stopper...like this.

You could add a spring to the front of the hopper to push the ammo to the back. The spring would have to stop just before the hole so the last few shots would be gravity fed. (spring not locking them against the back plug)

It looks good in theory. I really like your concept gun, I hope you build it. It looks nice.
