Diagphram cannon

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

Can anyone tell me how they work and what parts they need? Comparitive to piston cannons, which is better?

A diagphram cannon uses a flexible (sometimes rubber) diagphram to seal the barrel, rather than a piston. The rubber is attached to the inside of the chamber and is forced forward against the barrel when air is injected behind it.

I think pistons are probably better overall. I imagine they are less prone to failure than diagphrams. A piston tends to be more sturdy.
(I've never built this type of cannon before, somebody correct me if Im wrong)

you are correct, however i think that pistons are easyer to cunstruct and they are much more powerful!!!
build a co-axail piston gun. :D

When I took apart a 21L 2HP air compressor the other day I found the box where the electric stuff is mounted in and stuff actually had a diaphragm valve for some reason. So if you come across one of them just nick the diaphragm out which is perfect for sealing a 32mm Barrel.

The reason it has a diaphragm is because when the compressor reaches a factory set limit, usually 125 PSI inside the tank, the valve opens. When the valve opens, it trips a relay witch shuts off the motor. When the compressor drops back to 95 PSI, the valve closes, and the motor comes back on. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.
