wow... with all these slingshots and inspiration on one thread, i though i might give a slingshot a go...

After following your slingshot channel blog, for nearly 2 years... i never actually thought of building a slingshot until now.

here is my first slingshot made from 25mm 7ply plywood (no multiplex) ...
using tapered single bands.

Power seems good, and is perfect for plinking.

Well... just finished my mock exams, and had a couple of hours of freedom 8)

and this is what i did for the past 3 hours...
made from 36mm plywood, which was glued on with two pieces of 18mm plywood.

then filed the custom grip. , then spray painted it black ( i regret painting it black.. ) then coated it in two layers of poly.

then fitted with double theraband golds.

the overall finish is not great, as the poly dried to fast leaving my deep brush marks...

anyways here it is,

Handle is made from 2 pieces of 18mm (low quality) plywood....
then shaped and drilled to fit a 'Y' shaped steel piece, then glued on with polyester resin.

then fitted with double theraband gold.

Anyway, I haven't been lazy this weekend!

Here is my newest toy:



Slingshot crossbows are fascinating weapons. Powerful enough to be lethal (>60 ft-lbs), easy to make and very accurate.

However, all of my power sling-x-bows were pretty long. That is, until now!

I built a bullpup crossbow, with rollers that extend the draw. This has a stirrup and can therefore be cocked with both hands, allowing very strong bands.

Here you see it in comparison with an earlier model of mine:

you see it shooting triple TB gold bands per side, the maximum I can draw on a conventional slingshot. But the photos already show it with six layers per side, it shoots a 20 mm steel ball with more than 230 fps - well in the 60 ft-lbs realm commonly stated as "lethal".

I will do some more sanding, add a front handle and a scope, plus a nice paint job.

Will make a how-to video (tutorial) for next week! Stay tuned.

Just wondering if it has a "uplift" on the projectile, since the trigger mechanism is so low... or does it just stables it self?

Looking forward to the tutorial, and how you attach your scope....

Edit: Just noticed the stock looks like AA-12, though is also looks like a AUG77...

Yes, there is some uplift. But it is reproducable and therefore not a problem.

just out of curiosity... is it possible to enclose the central part of the gun in a PVC pipe or something like that ??

Well, kind of hard to draw out the bands if a PVC pipe covers the tiller.

Oh, but maybe the tube could be used as a "pusher" device for the band instead of pulling it? It sure would give it a minigun look! 8)

This time, the pulley based draw length extension employed by the Bullpup Sling-X-Bow has been brought over to a conventional slingshot. 32 cm (13") of additional acceleration make this camo painted huge frame a true performer.

Both weapons are shot through the chrony, and the crossbow won by only a few percent.

The original design is from Mr. Robert Blair, it is called the "ComBow". The Slingshot Channel converted Mr. Blair's invention for the much faster flatbands, and also for the far more powerful "butterfly" shooting style. The result is a stronger slingshot, but it is also pretty bulky.

The video shows to more frames carved from dogwood, and a hand protection "glove". The slingshots are all used against a 75% empty 5 liter beer barrel. The beer was no longer drinkable, but good enough for the slomo cam to take some nice shots.
