I've still only posted one cannon here, it just does everything

It has a ball valve on the pilot line followed by a blowgun.

If you charge it up, dump the blowgun with the ball valve shut it lets out a little bit of the pilot air.

However opening the ball valve will now repressurise the space behind the blowgun and slightly drop the pilot pressure behind the QEV causing it to dump gas into the barrel until it equalises again.

To simplify it I sketched a sleeve valve pilot concept which replaced both the ball valve and blowgun while still doing the same thing (because my cannon was never meant to work like that).



Your hammer valve whacks the poppet to let out a bit of pilot gas instead.

BTB, just wondering mate.. is the piston in your QEV more or less a rubber disk? I want to attach my homemade pump straight into the chamber port of the QEV.

I'm just a little worried because I don't want to stuff up the piston after having payed 50 bucks for the QEV. If it happens to be the same internal layout out as mine, I'd love to know where you made the equalizing hole.

Hmmm more or less, yes. Its a piece of sturdy plastic/rubber.


This one is with its sealing side down.
Note that they look like the one in this diagram if you would cut them in half, so they are not a simple disk.

You gun is an exceptional example of Industrial Revolution and Steam Punk design. Did you have any inspirations for you gun that you can share?

All of my upcoming gun designs were planned with Steam Punk in mind, as well as heavy influence from the Weta Workshop's famous "Dr. Grordtbort's" gun series.

I had a Girandoni 17tgh century air rifle in mind when I designed this.

Well...It's not really a design.I just went with what seemed best.Went with the flow as I built it..

The label Steampunk came afterwards...

The rubber pistons in QEV's are very durable, I have had the things cycling at high rates and pressures without any damage on the pistons, I would not worry about breaking them easily.

On top of that, you can buy spare QEV pistons for a few bucks a piece.

Vid is shot, my coworker will send it to me some time today.Unfortunately, I can't use the internet at home.

He made several pics and vids.The best is the one showing two consecutive shots and loading.Finally some on line proof of multishot capacity..And YES!! You will finally be able to HEAR it roar!

Internet connection at home should be restored in a couple of days so...I'll get it up eventually.

I took it to work, all filled up but without the fridgy, so I had a limited amount of shots.
On top of that, I only took 4 leadslugs with foam tails.
I never intended to shoot a vid, just wanted to show it to my coworker.

I shot through a piece of resinfiber board, wich I mistook for aluminium, but the wall took most of the damage..
The slugs went in all the way and bumped back out.
I also tested buckshot in paper candy wrap...wich is now my favorite ammo!!
No vid of that yet, but I shot it trough furtiture board and it damaged the brik wall behind it pretty nice!!
It left a 2" wide exit hole in the board

edit: Target is at about 4 meters and the lead slugs all left round holes, so I'm guessing the foam tail does stabilise them!!!

I used a small section of aluminium tube, wich fits just right in the barrel, squeezed a lead .50cal roundball inthere as the tip and gluead in a foam tail on the other side.Nice easy reproducable ammo.

Amazing how a mic can make all the difference.My dad shot one vid where you don't hear the shot but you do hear the echo.... while the thing nearly deafens me...

Accuracy at a distance is most likely nothing spectacular.
Never tried it, as I don't have the space to do so legally.

It's about as heavy as a "normal" PCP airgun , just a bit front heavy.
But I need that long reservoir for the multishot capacity.It's do-able though..
