Putting a tube in a tube is a relatively easy construction method, especially if you're making your own piston valve:

Would the turbulence from the air chamber vibrate the barrel at all?

It would be difficult to see but no one has ever reported problems to my knowledge.

Currently not happy with the trigger i have..it needs to be held down and will then fire once released...so a little backwards.

Would a slide valve/trigger set up be a better option? Or should i find a better trigger?

I naturally thought a trigger system would have been my best option, but what i have here isn't great.

Or you could make a lever arrangement that holds the trigger closed (spring) and releases it when you pull the trigger, I might actually do that myself for the pistol project as I have a normally closed valve that would make a nice QEV trigger.

Yeh I wouldn't want any extra valves either, that's why I fill through the trigger valve, so it has to be normally open.

You have a much better trigger valve than mine, i have pulled mine off and almost binned it...slide valve is back on....spent the last hour trying to figure out a way to attach it to a trigger..not as easy as i first thought...also air guns dont open my qev,,:(

I'm going to keep the trigger/slide valve combo instead, will be better i think...hope.

Thinking of buying a Co2 pistol and converting it to HPA for i would love a semi-auto .177 plinker with around 750-800fps.

Has anyone done this before?

If you're talking about a typical semi-auto BB pistol it's not just a question of putting 3000 psi through it - even if it doesn't blow up, the hammer will be too weak to open the valve, and even if you reinforce it then the recoil mechanism will probably be destroyed.

Your best bet would probably be a revolver with regulated HPA to 1200 psi and possibly a longer barrel, stronger hammer spring and bored out firing valve.

Revolver i wont bother with, will maybe build my own one day.

Hi everyone, just needed to ask a question regarding regulators.

I've read the Ninja tanks have a built in reg which are set to 800psi.

I have a feeling if i go and just screw that tank in, its going to fill my chamber to 800psi, is that right?

If thats the case...do i simply need an on-board regulator to dwindle the pressure down to my desired psi for every shot?

EDIT-I need a low pressure reg.

Most of the Ninja regs do come set for ~850psi, the ones I have came with instructions to remove some shims from within the regulator to reduce the output to IIRC....450psi.

Yes, they would fill to the set point pressure.

If using a second regulator, you still need to make sure it is rated for the inlet pressure that you're going to feed it. Most hardware store regulators will have a max inlet pressure around 250psi. There is at least one really good option for a second reg...Palmers Pursuit shop female stabilizer is available in a low pressure version (or get the high pressure version and a low pressure conversion kit), this you could simply hook up to the Ninja bottle without worry and gives the ability to easily ramp the final supply pressure up or down....this sort of convenience does come at a cost of course.

There are other options depending upon what you actually need/want. The Ninja regs are pretty easy to re-range and a test device is not expensive to cobble together.
