now I need to get it to diesel...

Woops..I was only kidding before.
I think I've just done it.

I used another leadslu with foam tail, so it would be nice and snug.Pushed it in with the bolt.
Opened up the bolt again and sprayed in axe.Didn't expect anything really.

The bang was so loud my ears rang and the recoil was noticable..
Now I never saw a flash, so I'm not 100% sure.

Went back into the house and my wife asked me if I was okay.
She heard a much louder than usual BOOM coming from the shed and wondered if anything had gone wrong.

The slug was pretty much flattened, it hit sideways...wich normally doesn;t happen..

I'll have to test it again, but if this was really autoignition at work, I'm worried about the noise.....
( Pressure used was around 30 bar)

It's so far off, if I didn't understand English grammar I couldn't understand it.

I think it dieseled..I'm not sure.When I get a chance I'll try it with starterfluid, in a dark room...

The only way to be sure is to see a muzzleflash..

Well...as I said, I'm not sure untill I see a muzzleflash.

But...it all points to dieseling:

I've searched for it online and the increased recoil and loud bang ( duh) and even the tumbling of the ammo are all mentioned when it comes to dieseling.the latter caused by supersonic shockwave...

Also, Pyramid-air warns not to use certain lubes in PCP airguns because they can cause dieseling...so not only springers do it, appearently.
This counters the belief the expanding air will prevent it.
Remember, the dead space gets compressed really fast, so a heat effect might also occur there.

I bought some very volatile ether based spray..so I guess I'll find out soon..If it didn't diesel my gun has suddenly gained a lot of power in another way...wich is fine by me also....

Yeah well, concerning PCP rifles, they also tend to say that when pressurizing the rifle, the heat could set flammable oil in the reservoir on fire.
I tried to put zippo fuel (2 drops) in the dead space before shooting, the noise is stronger than without, recoil is roughly the same, maybe a little more noticeable, and the projectile is light enough not to be accurate even without diesel effet. dead space has to be small for the diesel effect to occur, the bigger it is, the bigger the decompression, the colder the gas comes.

Don't count on seeing one. It's rare to see them on thorough-bred combustions (except in darkness), and in spite of my air rifle having dieseled a few times, I haven't seen any there either.

Lots of smoke though.

I'll have to compare shots at the same pressure and see....

Oh yeah; well, i've run up the PV = nRT formula, (which is not my expertise domain) and i found nothing...Temperature is almost constant at 275 K give or take; I must be wrong somewhere.
Still, i've done some more shots, with zippo fuel there's a burnt fume smell after the shots. There is still some liquid fuel on the threadings of the barrel, but on the piston and along the barrel, nothing.
Weapons oil doesn't diesel in my pneumatic, but i'm using lower pressures than you.

Well...Zippo fuel is out, since it would probably eat my piston.
I've with and without the multispray, with seemed to give a louder report.
But since both shots went straight through a fridgedoor, I don;t have any proof...as in penetration-wise..

A fridgedoor in my opinion is a worthy substitute for a cardoor btw..
