honking usually happens when there's not enough flow out of the pilot valve, so the sprinkler valve doesn't fully open. if you're using a blowgun and ther isn't two much tubing or anything between it and the sprinkler valve, its probably something else...just a thought.

It's what cash68 said, the bolt reciever. It the barrel end doesn't make a complete seal against the chamber end. O-rings might help, but the best bet is using a metal washer glued to a rubber washer on both ends.

Honking also happens when you fill the cannon, as my sprinkler-valved cannon does when I fill from my air compressor. It's just the diaphragm bouncing up and down and making a sound like a retarded goose. Bad for cash68 if he's planning on going paint-balling with this cannon....
